Concept designs have been revealed for Adelaide’s second city high school.
The new city high school is set to feature cutting edge learning areas that focus on health and science studies, as well as boasting environmentally friendly outdoor areas and buildings.
The Government has recently committed to investing $15 million extra for the school project. It is expected that this investment will increase the capacity of the school by up to 250 extra students
The additional capacity of 250 students was made possible thanks to the new building designs having 2 extra levels added to it. These 2 extra levels mean that the school will now have 7 storeys.
Some features include:
All features designed for the school have been designed with an emphasis on sustainability. Being located in a central area with easy access to public transport, it is hoped that green travel options such as public transport and car-pooling will be taken up by students and parents alike.
Education Minister Susan Close is excited by the project, stating that “The concept design is modern and exciting, and sits beautifully within the Park Lands”
“The school’s strong focus on STEM subjects is reflected in the cutting edge science, design and technology laboratories which will help prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow. Students will also have access to some of the latest equipment in engineering and investigative science”
Currently the $100 million School is on track to open in the beginning of 2019, with an estimated capacity of 1250 students.
